The Highway Rat Dvd Release Date Review

We missed The Highway Rat when it was on the tv at Christmas and I was so disappointed because The rat was voiced by David Tennant. But at the weekend we were lucky to receive The Highway Rat on Dvd for us to sit and finally watch.

The Highway Rat is another creation from Julia Donaldson and illustrated again by Axel Scheffler. We are huge Julia Donaldson fans in our house and Tilly loves the stories, but of course, The Highway Rat was new to us.

The Highway Rat is a ravenous rat that rides through the countryside robbing the people of their food and sweet treats. Soon he comes across Duck, who is voiced by Nina Sosanya and she gets the better of him and he finds himself in a sticky situation, that totally changes his way of life.

The story is well written and is written in a true imaginative Julia Donaldson way. The story is narrated as it unfolds by Rob Brydon, and He really puts expressionism into his reading. It also features Frances De La Tour as the rabbit and Tom Hollander as the squirrel.

The Dvd is 25 minutes long, perfect for kids with a low attention span - like Tilly! and it also has optional extras of Artwork, Behind the scenes and Live performances from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The Dvd is released today for £7 on Amazon, so its a perfect price for pocket money or as a gift for a child.

This Dvd will take pride of place alongside The Stick Man and Gruffalo things that Tilly has, But you can also buy additional merchandise for The Highway Rat to enjoy alongside the Dvd.

Once again Julia Donaldson grabbed my child's attention with her imaginative stories, and she has fallen in love with the story, So Tilly certainly recommends this Dvd.
