As Tilly and I approached south bank of the river Thames, the Coca-Cola London Eye came into view, we were both very excited. I would highly recommend buying your tickets beforehand as there came be quite a queue. Although the queue to get onto the London eye can also be long, the Eye doesn't stop to allow people off, it travels slowly so people can get on and off while it is still moving, however it is able to stop to allow disabled or elderly passengers time to get on and off safely, therefore the queue is almost constantly moving. please consider that staff may ask for buggies to be folded to make room for others.
Once inside one of the 32 air conditioned pods, Tilly and I were able to walk around the pod, although seating was also available. Although the pods can contain up to 25 people, the staff did not over put that many people in our pod to ensure that we had enough space to look out and move around to see all the sites. Once on the top we are able to get a fantastic panoramic view of London. Being on the top of the London eye was Tilly favourite as she could see just how big London really was.
There are also tablets available to use inside the pod which give a map of the area and explains what all the building you can see are used for.
It takes around 30 minutes to get all the way around the London Eye and is breathtaking experience that both Tilly and i would highly recommend. The views from the top are spectacular. When you are nearing the end of your visit there is a camera outside the pod that will take a photo of you. feet on the floor of the pod explain where to stand and an announcement will inform you when to stand on the feet. These photos are available to buy in the gift shop at the exit.
The London Eye is located on the south bank of the river Thames and is clearly sign posted. It is walking distance from London Waterloo train station as well as Embankment underground station.
Looks fun! Can't believe I've never been on the London Eye!
