Creating A Day Time Look With Superdrug Products

As part of the Blog Squad for Superdrug this month I was sent a variety of products to try out and give my honest opinion on. So I have popped it all into one post to show how you can achieve a perfect daytime look from Superdrug.

Firstly you need a good cleanser.

Micellar water is getting more and more popular these days with people opting to use this rather than a cleanser and toner. So B. from Superdrug has brought out a micellar water off their own. The best thing that I like about this is that it is for all skin types and even suitable for the most sensitive of skin types. Seeing as I have psoriasis, I wasn't sure how it would act on my skin, but there were no flare ups and no discomfort at all. Micellar water removes impurities from your skin and it tones the skin, leaving it purified. It is soothing and cold on the skin so that will also help to reduce any puffiness.

Take a piece of cotton wool and apply some micellar water to it. Then sweep it across your face, cleansing as you go. Be careful around your eyes because they are sensitive, as well as the skin around the eyes being fragile. You don't need to rinse this off your skin either, so it saves a lot of time in the morning when you're trying to get ready in a rush. If you're a working parent like me, you will need all of the beauty hacks that you can get and Micellar water is one of them.

Get those teeth sparkling!

Have you heard of the charcoal craze? We have seen it in skin care and now it's in toothpaste! Superdrug has brought out their own charcoal toothpaste and the reason that it has charcoal as an ingredient is that charcoal is a cleanser and it will help to whiten your teeth. Although we think that using charcoal is a new trend, it actually isn't! It has been used as far back as Roman times when people were using it in their toothpaste back then. But like all good trends, it has come back again and is a fashionable addition to your shopping basket. The Superdrug Pro Care Toothpaste is available for £2.99. Many of my colleagues have used this as well as myself and I have heard so many good things about it. Another tip to get sparkling teeth is to use a red lipstick. The toothpaste tastes okay and even though it comes out black, it is not going to leave your teeth looking black. I drink a  lot of coke, so this discolours my teeth quite badly, so having a whitening toothpaste is really beneficial to me.

Focus on your eyes.

In the daytime, it is good to focus on your eyes rather than your lips. In an evening time, I will wear a bright lipstick which brings attention to my mouth. But in the day it has to be about the eyes. There are so many eye palettes around at the moment and we were sent a Studio Smokey Eye Palette. This is part of the Christmas range and will be around for a short time only, so if you're going to get it, you need to be quick. it comes with 12 shades ranging from light to dark and the smoky eye look is so easy to achieve.
  • Use a Primer, this helps to keep the eye shadow in place.
  • Choose a base colour to put all over your eye lid and to the brow area.
  • Apply a shade over the eye lid and add it to the lower lash line (this acts as an eyeliner too)
  • Apply a darker shade in the crease and on the outer corners of the eyelid, blend it in well.
  • Gently apply another shade into the inner corners of your eye if you wish, although I don't usually bother with this.
  • For a more dramatic look apply a black eyeliner, but for a daytime look, this may be too much.
You can do a smokey eye with any colours that you like and most smokey palettes have a 'how to guide' on the back of them. This Studio palette had a wide selection of colours but they seemed to be quite crumbly and they weren't too smooth to apply on the eyes. I found that some of it went on to my white top that I was wearing. So I probably wouldn't use these again. I did get a bit of a smouldering look, but it mainly seemed to just blend the colours into one colour. These will be £3.00 and can be found here

Natural looking lips

In the daytime, a nude type of lips is the best. So I was sent these lip balms to try out. I don't know about you guys, but my lips always dry out in the change of weather. How much has the weather actually changed this year so far? With the autumn coming and it getting colder, it's always good to have a lip balm to keep your lips soft and protect them from the elements. I  was sent the Studio Lip Gems from Superdrug and they are to be found in the Christmas section of the store. There are three little glamorous looking gems in the set and they come in pale pink, dark pink and purple. They add a little tint to your lips but to be honest, I didn't see any tint at all on my lips, just a bit of a lip balm shine and they did make my lips feel soft and supple. I would give these to my daughter who is 7 as she would like them because they are in shiny packaging and will be good for her lips. I don't think I would use them again as they didn't really show much tint on my lips. They are however packaged nicely and will make a fab little stocking filler. They are £10 for the pack of 3 and you can find them here

So it is easy to achieve a day time look from Superdrug, where you will get value for money and all of the own brand products are vegan and vegetarian-friendly and carry the leaping bunny symbol. The products also have 100% money back guarantee, so if you're not happy with it, then you can return it to store for a full refund.
