Meet The Blogger Behind The Blog - Life According To MrsShilts

As part of our series of introduction posts about bloggers, we have Emma telling us about her blog as part of our Meet The Blogger series, please read about her blog and follow her

What is your blog called?

My blog is Life According to MrsShilts

How long have you been blogging?
I've been blogging for nearly 8 years, it started as a food diary and record of my weightloss and has grown over the years following my pregnancy, my Son's early years and again my weightloss efforts in order to help conceive our second baby.

What is your blog niche?
It's a Family Lifestyle blog that focuses on a range of topics. Mainly days out and weightloss recipes and updates are the most popular posts.

Why do you blog?
I blog as a record of our family life and secondly, it's been able to generate a small part time income for me to be able to have one day off from work so that I can stay at home with my little boy.

What made you start blogging?
Back in 2008, I had a big wake up call and needed to lose weight for various health reasons. I realised that I was in a similar position to many others and being able to share my journey helped others on their way to making the decision to lose weight. It's since grown from there and I have had a very loyal following watching my life unfold on the internet.

How long did you have your blog before you started to tell people that you had it?
I can't actually remember. It feels like it's always been there but when I started to get emails from brands wanting to work with me, I did tell a few more people!

What is the funniest Google search people have used to find your blog?Who is your most famous Twitter follower? My most famous Twitter follower is probably @KayCeeStroh who was in High School Musical movies with Zac Efron!

Buffer or Hootsuite?
I don't use either at the moment but I like Buffer

What is your best blogging achievement?
Working with huge brands always feels like such a big achievement as I only write my blog in my 'spare time' although I'm not sure what spare time is anymore. Being nominated for the MAD Blog Awards in the Outstanding Contribution category was a biggie for me too especially as it wasn't expected at all.

Have you ever had a fail with a blog post like not noticing a typo?
I'm usually pretty good with spelling and proof-reading but have had the occasional typo.

Have you ever sent the wrong email to a PR, or misread it and sent the wrong reply?
I've only ever done this once, and I was so embarrassed that I vowed never to rush an email reply again. I always re-read everything now before pressing send!

Where can the readers find you?
My handle pretty much everywhere on the internet is MrsShilts and that's always being mis-read (remove the L) much to my annoyance! It stems from our wedding day where my new husband, known as Shilts to his friends, gave me a personalised WBA football shirt that had MrsShilts on the back. MrsShilts was born!

Where's the weirdest place you have blogged from?
Probably from a hotel bathroom trying to catch up on work when my little boy is trying to go to sleep and I didn't want to disturb him.

Have you ever met any celebrities through your blog?
I have met a couple of celebrities through my blog. I met and worked on a campaign with Fearne Cotton and Huggies. I also met British Olympian Greg Rutherford on a campaign with Little Tikes. Both really lovely people and we had fun working on the campaigns with them.

Where do you see your blog in 1 years time?
Hopefully still going and still being read by my followers!

Where do you see your blog in 10 years time?
Oh gosh, I have no idea! I'd love for it to be still going but who knows what the future holds.

What is the favourite blog post that you have ever written?
It would have to be my birth story with my son, Olly which you can read here having a baby is such an amazing achievement, I was so so proud to have him and share his birth story with my blog readers.
