Project Mc2, I thought it would be one of the programmes she likes these day.
We arrived at the Museum and were whisked up to the Directors suite where we enjoyed snack and drinks whilst Tilly and her friend could join in with geeky science experiments. There was a geek chic photo booth where you could dress up and have photo's taken (always a hit with Tilly).
I have been binge watching a spy programme on Netflix, so at the moment all Tilly talks about is being a spy. So this programme is absolutely perfect for her. It is aimed for kids aged 6-10 and as well as the suspense of the spying stuff, you have the element of science where your child is actually learning as they watch this programme. Project Mc2 is all about 4 friends called Camryn Coyle (Tillys favourite), Adreienne Attoms, Bryden Bandweth, and Mc Keyla Mc Alister and they get work together as spies using their own speciality of science to save the world
• McKeyla McAlister (Mc2 ) is a Writer, hipster and undercover spy! She spends her spare time, writing, reading or saving the world! Her catch phrase is “I’m smart. Get over it!”
• Bryden Bandweth (B2 ) is up with all things techy, she tweets, Instagrams and social media's every aspect of her life. She cant survive without WIFI and is a wizz on the computer. Her catch phrase? “Stand Back, I’m Trending”
• Camryn Coyle (C2 ) is known for her high IQ, Camryn’s real genius comes out in the garage – especially when it comes to her souped up skateboard! Her catch phrase is “Nailed It”
all the girls go to Maywood Glenn Academy - but are also part of a secret, seriously cool organisation, NOV8 (pronounced ‘Innovate’).
The programme is available to Netflix subscribers and is easy to find under kids programmes and TV.To get Netflex, its so easy. Just download the App onto your smartphone or computer device/tablet and sign up. Project Mc2 is an original production for Netflix, so you wont see it anywhere else. The first 3 episodes are available now and the other episodes will be available very soon for you to enjoy the rest of the series.
The programme also comes with fashion dolls for the girls to play with whilst they enjoy the programme. Tillys favourite is Camryn Coyle, I think its because she has a skateboard and Tilly's dream is to be a skateboarder! she has a long way to go, but I would shatter her illusions. The dolls come on their own as a standalone product and they cost £14.99. Tilly was given Camryn to take home and try out. The first thing she noticed was that the doll has real eye lashes. these dolls are different to other fashion dolls as they are brainy dolls and not just there to be fashionable like leading dolls on the markets these days. Tilly prefers dolls like these and Dolls like Bratz, Monster High etc as she likes to be different. I also think watching the programme made her want to be like Camryn, so having the doll is the next best thing.
The dolls are also available in sets with small experiments that they can do at home under adult supervision. These sets are priced at £24.99.
Tilly and her friend loved the programme and sat down to watch it, but I think to really understand the programme you need to be slightly older than 6 (it is aimed at girls 6 -10) Tilly's friend Kelsey is 9 and she LOVED the programme. at 9, you kind of understand the experiments more and can follow the story line better. Being a geek is actually fashionable these days and Project Mc2 goes a long way to ensuring that being a geek is a good thing, that learning is a positive experience and that it is trendy to be a geek. It also helps for young girls to aspire to be a scientist, because we all know that the world lacks women scientists.
Project Mc2 is on Netflix and you can find out more about them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram where you will find out all the up to date news and competitions.
