The countdown to Christmas has officially started! So here’s a Rainforest Alliance twist on a Christmas classic …
On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me, a partridge in a pear tree… A pretty ideal present for us here at the Rainforest Alliance, as there’s no denying we love all types of trees.
We may not have certified any pear trees, but around the world more than 151 million acres (over 61 million hectares) of forests have achieved Forest Stewardship Council®(FSC)/Rainforest Alliance Certification. Products that display the FSC label coupled with the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal shows they have come from forests that have met rigorous standards for protecting forestlands, communities and wildlife.
But still our forests – home to half of all the species on Earth – are disappearing at the eye-watering rate of 38 million acres a year (that’s one football field every 78 seconds!). What can you do to help? Easy, adopt a rainforest!
Adopt-A-Rainforest scheme helps small conservation groups in tropical countries that are working to stop rainforest destruction. From helping to protect the pristine paradise of southern Belize to adopting the ancient oak forest in the tropical Andes to helping to save El Salvador’s last expanse of rainforest, every donation – no matter how big or small – can make a huge difference.
To get started, simply pick the project you would like to help & either post your donation or pay online. It’s the perfect way to treat your loved one and Mother Nature this Christmas!
