Christmas is going to be here before we know it, and part of the fun is the preparation before we have the big day.
So Good Morning Britain and Hobbycraft are working together to bring us a competition for all school children between aged 4 and 11 years old (key stage 1 and 2). They are looking for the craftiest kids in the UK.
The competition launched on the 20th October and you have until the 29th October to get your entries in, All you need to do is pop over to and design a unique stocking using your crayons or felt tip pens. Once the winning design is chosen by independent judges, it will be made into a real stocking and sold throughout hobbycrafts 81 stores, with 50p from each stocking kit sold going to ITV' charity Text Santa. The winner will receive for themself a hamper of Hobbycraft craft materials for themselves and their school.
Recent research has shown that children these days spend less time making things than they used to and I know that I don't make things with Tilly as much as I did with the older children. So today we have downloaded the stocking template from here and we are going to design a stocking to enter into the competition. You also need to download the official entry form. Entries without the official template or entry form will sadly be invalid.
90% of parents think its important for children to learn how to make craft things as it helps their development but there was a drop of nearly 20% in participation in craft related GCSE's between 2007 and 2011.
Katherine Paterson, Customer Development Director at Hobbycraft says "We are encouraging all children of primary age to get involved with ITV Good Morning Britain's competition to find the craftiest kid, with the chance to see their unique design on sale in Hobbycraft this christmas. Its also the chance to get kids using their imagination, all for a good cause."
All entries need to be submitted by 6pm on Weds 29th October and the winner will be revealed on 10th November, with their winning design being launched in Hobbycraft stores on 1st December for you all to buy. You can find more details about the competition on The Website
