World Vision is the world’s largest overseas children’s charity. We want to show vulnerable child refugees that we will not abandon them. They are asking you to carve a heart in a pumpkin as a lantern of hope – feel free to be as creative as you like! and then if you text Heart8 to 70060 to donate £5 and you will be helping us raise money for schools and educational equipment, to help give the children hope for the future.
"For most, Halloween is a night of excitement, friendly frights and safe scares. But for the children of Syria the fear is very real. And it’s every night of the year. The Syrian civil war is in its fourth year, and has stolen the childhoods of millions of children. Children like Hani, 8, have seen unspeakable horrors. They have witnessed the deaths of family members, endured sleepless nights of bombing and fighting, and now live in constant fear and uncertainty."
You can find templates over at www.worldvision.org.uk or you can simply design your own, then once you have carved it, you need to upload your photo on to their Facebook page or Twitter using the hashtag #ANightOfHope. All the pumpkin pictures will combine to create a pumpkin mosaic which will be shared with Syrian refugee children living in Lebanon during a visit this November.
If you dont have time to carve a pumpkin this year then you can do a virtual one on anightofhope.worldvision.org.uk/upload/ and leave a message for the children of Syria. We are away this halloween so we made a virtual one and left a message.
Please dont forget to text Heart8 to 70060 to donate £5 to the charity too.
